With Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger, you can rightly expect Down with Love to be full of music and dancing, and they are good (you should publish an album, Obi-wan).
Set in New York in the 1960s, the movie always reminds you what life should be. Beautiful costume and hairstyle, glamourous (and “hi-tech”) home decoration, elegant conversation … you’ve them all in it.
The story starts and ends as usual odd-couple romantic comedies, like You’ve got Mail. But the twist in the middle of the film is really intriguing.
What makes a romantic comedy funny is not the main cast, but the supporting characters. David Hyde Pierce (as Niles in the TV series Frasier) and Sarah Paulson are really cool.
This is a refreshing comedy which can easily and happily spend your 100 minutes.
The DVD has a lot of nice “special features” including the “Blooper Reel” which are all the “NG” shots which would definitely extend your happiness.
