random thoughts » Cyberculture http://alanlin.hk thinking aloud Fri, 03 Feb 2012 04:53:12 +0000 en hourly 1 Podcasting http://alanlin.hk/archives/2005/08/27/podcasting/ http://alanlin.hk/archives/2005/08/27/podcasting/#comments Sat, 27 Aug 2005 02:25:42 +0000 Alan http://alan.lin.name/?p=364 近期發覺自己真的很落後，如非林海鋒出手，我根本對 podcast 提不起興趣。在 Odeo subscribe 所有 tagged Hong Kong 的 feed ( 現在只得 16 個 )，試聽了幾個，發現其中一位 podcaster 竟然是大學同學 Vivien。她的節目 moShow 原本是兩人主持，我聽的那集就只有 Vivien 唱獨腳戲。節目內容都是環繞 internet 和 games ( 正合我意 :) ) 。在節目中又竟然發現另一位大學同學 Charles 已經出書 — 《非典型尖子》，可惜這類 self-help 的書就不是我那杯茶。

Since 2001, some bloggers pick a day in July / August and blog at half-hour intervals continuously for 24 hours for charity. Blogathon 2005 will commence on this Saturday, 6 August, at 9 p.m. (Hong Kong time). Any blogger can participate, or, if one is not confident to have the stamina to finish the event (like myself), can sponsor. The donation will be made by the sponsors direclty to the charitable organisation through a weblink.

Many participants think of something special to blog, like blogging while wardriving, or writing a Harry Potter fan-fiction. It will be fun to watch.

Yahoo! 這招「百川匯聚」其實很 effective，一些我以前知道其存在但不會使用的功能 (Messenger, LAUNCHcast) 現在也會試用，而且它用上 join by invitation 「吊起來賣」，介面易用又反應快 (肯定快過微軟的 Wallop)，相信都 sell 得到。

Another example is Google Maps. You can find any location in the U.S. by supplying its address to the search engine, and you got it on the map. MapQuest and Yahoo! Maps have been providing the same service for a long time, but Google Maps just looks better and is easier to use.
