一直以來也想轉用 PDA 和手提電話二合為一的裝置，一來不用拿那麼多東西上街，輕便一點；二來所有聯絡資料，日程表都可以放在一起，不需要右手查 PDA，左手按電話。可是一向不喜歡微軟的東西 (Xbox 除外) ，對運行 Windows CE 的電話沒有興趣。

在農曆新年前，終於等到一部外型功能合意，而且使用 Palm OS 的 PDA 電話出現 — Treo 650。用了兩個多星期，實在方便：

1. 鍵盤輸入較以往的手寫輸入快捷。我連附送的蒙恬筆也沒有安裝
2. 內置的網頁瀏覽器 (Blazer) 和電郵 (VersaMail) 件非常好用，試過去卡拉 OK 唱《七里香》沒有歌詞立即上網下載，也試過以 GMail 收發電郵
3. 內置的媒體播放軟件可以不經轉換格式直接播放 VCD 的檔案
4. 處理 SMS 和 MMS 的軟件很實用，會自動將同一個人的訊息連接成「對話」，就像 GMail 那樣
5. 電量夠，連續使用兩三天也沒問題

缺點也不是沒有：

1. 相機只有 30 萬像數，雖然拍出來的相片質數不俗
2. 內置的聯絡人軟件並不支援全螢幕的來電顯示和 MP3 鈴聲，需要另外安裝軟件 (還好，有很多選擇)
3. 不支援 WIFI，不能使用 SDIO 的 WIFI 卡無線上網 (網上已有人在研究破解辦法)
4. 不支援部份藍芽耳機的 handsfree 模式，我的 Jabra FS258 就不可以
5. 來電時，藍芽耳機不會發聲 (可能我的設定有問題)

Less than HK$4,000 for a Mac!

I am not kidding. Besides iPod shuffle, Apple also announced Mac mini today. Again, there are 2 models: one with a G4 CPU of 1.25GHz and a 40GB hard disk, whilst the “high-end” model has 1.42GHz and 80GB. Both models have a combo drive, various I/O ports and quite a few software.

But $4000 is way too low, right? Yes, that’s why keyboard, mouse and monitor are not included, nor the wireless network card. If you get all those items from Apple store, you will spend an additional HK$8940. But you can use the non-Apple products, can’t you?

The most important thing is obviously the design, especially the its compact size (16.51cm x 16.51cm x 5.08cm). I don’t think any barebone PC can compete with that.

What’s next? a “less than HK$6000″ iBook?

Apple has just announced iPod shuffle, its USB flash drive type MP3 player. It weighs only 22 grams. There are 2 models: one with 512MB and the other 1GB. iPod shuffle supports MP3, AAC and even WAV files. The battery can run for 12 hours (and will be fully recharged in 4 hours).

iPod shuffle can connect with a Mac or PC via a USB port (of course it supports USB 2.0) using the iTunes software. The new tagline is “Life is Random” . When plugged into the USB port, iTunes Autofill will randomly updates the contents of iPod shuffle according to the capacity of iPod shuffle and your style. You can of course turn off the Autofill function and add the songs manually.

The US Apple online store sells the 512MB model at US$99 and the 1GB one at US$149, the Hong Kong store has no price tags yet. The Hong Kong Apple online store is selling the 2 models at HK$780 and HK$1,170 respectively, and they are supposed to be shipped within 2 weeks.

Although it does not have any display, iPod shuffle looks really sexy.

數碼通終於推出 3G 流動電話服務。收費方面很吸引，最便宜的月費只是 $128，就提供與 2G 的 $118 計畫一樣的時數和 VAS，另加 30 分鐘的視像通話，其他視像內容如新聞和體育資訊則免費。

但有兩個問題令我暫時不會轉投 3G 陣營：第一是覆蓋範圍，數碼通說要到明年八月才能覆蓋地鐵全線；其次是手機，現在的選擇太少。其中諾基亞的 6630，視像通話竟然要放在插座上進行，真是 …

我部 GX-32 昨天開始有問題，經常自動關機。原本打算在數碼通 12 月推出 3G 時才換電話，現在要提早破費。

用過幾部有攝影功能的手提電話之後，自己已習慣了 cameraphone，而且要求越來越高，真是無底深淵。看來選擇不外乎是 S700i 或 S65。

這已不是 Sharp 的第一次，我之前的那部 GX-22 也是因為自動關機，才被我換掉 (上次較幸運，剛推出 GX-32 就壞機)。看來要將 Sharp 的手機列入黑名單。
