為了突破自己，編導刻意故弄玄虛，將劉建明步向地獄的最後一程，用最複雜的方法描繪出來。編劇自己有無墮入「創作」的無間道，麥兆輝自己才知道。但我真的要到最後大約 20 分鐘，才想到今次的「大橋」是甚麼。
遺憾的是本片中段加插不少笑位，令全片風格不統一。
演員方面，劉德華戲份最重，但表現浮誇，與第一集的水準相距甚遠。梁朝偉，曾志偉，黃秋生，陳道明，一句講完：「嘥晒」。最差表現 (亦一早在預算中) 的是陳慧琳。據聞她付了 20 多萬圓學戲，真係「掉落鹹水海」還好。
作為三部曲的結局，《終極無間》勉強可以收貨 (怎樣說也較第二集好) 。
The concepts used in Phone Booth has been used so many times, e.g. the main character is trapped in a confined area — Die Hard; there is no personal reason why the “wrong-doer” has to revenge against the main character — Se7en.
Even though the ideas are old, it is still an exciting 90-minute movie, with virtually no action scenes. The excitement all comes from the voice performance by Kiefer Sutherland, who has worked with director Joel Schumacher before in another favourite of mine, Flatliners.
Just like Se7en, what intrigues me most is the motive. Does the Caller just want to punish the main character for his being unfaithful and dishonest? Seems not, because he still want to kill Stu after he came clean with her wife. So what is the true motive?
Just a usual sequel to a horror movie. Final Destination 2 just demonstrateed how you could be killed in more violent ways with more bloodsheds. It also attempted to tie the new victims with those in the first episode, but that is not convincing.
